Consistent crime reduction, having some of the lowest levels in a decade.

Increased gun and drug enforcement consistently, removing guns from the hands of criminals.

Worked with DA’s to identify and remove violent, serious, or repeat offenders who threatened the quality of life in our communities.

Implemented agency’s first career development plan, recognizing and financially rewarding officers for attaining specialized training and education.

Created Police Youth Camp to unite small groups of youth with police in a fun, educational, and one-on-one setting, to build closer, lasting relationships.

Sponsored “Santa at the Substation” at Dogwood Circle for the annual Christmas event to serve as a holiday event in this diverse community.

Expanded the Latino Community Meeting to include and engage the youth at the local schools, by partnering with the Clinton City Schools 4H Juntos Club.

Partnered with Newkirk Park Committee to launch the annual National Night Out event, and the community has seen how this has grown.

Member of Sampson County Substance Abuse Coalition, educating public, especially youth, and linking the community with resources.

Partnered with community leaders to conduct annual fund raising for the Child Advocacy Center, of which I was a member.

Partnered with Eastpointe (MCO) to equip every officer and patrol vehicle with Narcan, medication for overdose victims in effort to save lives and offer families Hope; lead the effort to spread to the County.

Strong focus on mental health response: increasing Sampson County’s Crisis Intervention training percent from under 10% to above 80%, with CPD having 100% before I retired. Our efforts helped spread CIT to other first responders and significantly increased the County’s participation and certification.

CPD was the first in NC and among the first 10 in the nation to complete the IACP’s One Mind Campaign- focused on policy, training, and partnerships to respond to mental health calls for service and link families with available resources.

Expanded our drug take back program, hosting events, and partnering with pharmacies and other community resources taking in hundreds of pounds of unwanted medications annually.

Successively achieved accreditation with CALEA, which has been a foundation of providing fairness and transparency inside and outside the agency, while ensuring the agency maintains the best/highest national standards for law enforcement.
